RULES:
Spooky Live is an open show meaning no membership or group affiliation is required. For entrants under
18, a parent/guardian signature is required on the entry form.
At this time we have not secured the location. We’re hoping to have it at The Olde School where it was
held last year, but depending on the price and if The Olde School has sold will dictate if that location is still
viable. If not, we have a couple other places that will work. We will keep everyone posted. Depending on
the location, we may be limited to how many entrants we can accept. At this time we are shooting for 25
entrants.
We have applied for NAMHSA membership as of August 19th, 2011.
Judges shall not judge their own works or collaborations of works, nor will judges compete in divisions
they are judging. Judges will not show proxy in divisions they are judging. Show management will not
compete. We will have judges lined up soon and will be able to let everyone know as soon as possible to
allow entrants to plan their show entries.
AWARDS: 1st and 2nd place winners will receive NAN cards. Places to 5th will be awarded
used/recycled commercial flat ribbons. Champs/Reserves will receive used/recycled rosettes. We will
most likely have candy as awards, too, same as last year.
SPECIAL RUN Peter Stone Model available: We still have approximately 20 Elvira’s from 2010. These are
the Pebbles Arabian mare done in a black pinto. Her price is $49.99. They are a run of 50 glossy models.
ENTRY DEADLINE: October 21st – no refunds after this date, as funds will have gone to hall rental and
awards. Please try to email your list of models by the 21st also. You will not be allowed to show if we
haven’t received your model list by the morning of the show. We will be using Region Tags or we can
assign you an entrant number. You will need to make your own tags and they need to be WHITE tags.
Please put your entrant number and breed/gender on the tag ONLY.
SET-UP starts at 8:00 am – no early entry, please. Show will begin at 9:00 am. This may be subject to
change depending on the hall.
Lunch: we’ll break for 45 minutes for lunch around noon time. There are plenty of fast food restaurants
close by.
If we end up at The Olde School again, please remember NO CHICKEN of any kind is allowed in the
building. The person in charge is deathly allergic to chicken.
1) Foals and yearlings may only show in their own classes EXCEPT for Classes 33-41 in Divisions 1
and 2 and Classes 25-29 in Divisions 3 and 4 – they may be entered in those classes.
2) Classes will be split or combined at the judge’s discretion.
3) Even though we are using the same classlists for Divisions 1 & 2 and then also for Divisions 3 & 4,
the classes will be split/combined somewhat to suit each division.
4) Please note that classes 37 and 38 are for SR models that do not have any thing changed on the
mold. Class 39 is for SR models that have an ear tweaked or hoof cocked, or something minor changed.
If it is a SR model that has extensive remodeling of the mane/tail, head tucked, mouth open, etc, it should
go into class 36 – Factory Custom. This ruling is mainly for the Peter Stone Models.
5) Class limit of 4 models per class.
6) A model may only enter 1 breed class and 1 collectability or workmanship class.
7) Collectability entries MUST HAVE documentation (either made by the entrant or a Breyer
Connoisseur card for example). Entries without documentation will not be placed. Documentation is
limited to no larger than one 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper or equivalent. Documentation should include
manufacturer, year of release, number of models released and other pertinent information such as the
special event or reason for the release, artists, etc.
8) Lunch time Specialty classes will be just for fun and have their own set of awards – they will NOT
earn NAN cards. Classes are: 1) Horse Halloween costume – dress your model up in a costume. 2)
Human Halloween Costume – well, it is Halloween after all! 3) Pet Models (no live ones please) 4) Elvira
– even if you purchased one from last year, you can still enter one in this class – original finish only, not
customized please 5) Fantasy – unicorn, pegasus, dragon, whatever in the fantasy line. Awards TBA.
9) We have applied to NAMHSA, if approved each 1st & 2nd place winners in the regular classes for
the 4 divisions will earn NAN cards. You can find out more about NAMHSA on their website, http://www.
namhsa.org/index.htm
10) Championships will be judged by calling back the 1st and 2nd place winners in each class in that
division. A champion will be chosen out of the 1st place winners. All Champions and Reserves will
compete at the end of the show for the Grand Champion/Reserve Grand Champion.
11) Divisions: This show is for Traditional and Classic scale models only. This show is not for
china/porcelain/ceramic models. Division 1 - Original Finish Peter Stone models. Division 2 – Original
Finish other plastics (to include Breyer, Hartland, etc). Original finish restorations are allowed, however if
a judge determines that the model has been enhanced, it will be disqualified. Division 3 – Custom Halter
– models that have been repainted or remade or altered in some way. This does not include resins –
they will go in Division 4. This can be as minimal as adding a blaze or as drastic as resculpting a face.
Division 4 – Artist resins – this division is for those models that are made of resin. If a resin (like a Black
Horse Ranch resin or a Northlight) is considered an original finish model it does not belong in this
division and there isn’t a division for it in this show. This division was intended for those resins released
by various Artists (usually a limited edition) and then either painted by that artist or another artist.
12) Judges TBA
13) Judging criteria: Breed – Breed type including correct color and/or pattern, conformation and
condition. Age, rarity, value, collectability will not be considered. Collectability – rarity, age, condition,
number produced and desirability. Cost will not be considered. Workmanship – quality of work,
correctness, accuracy of breed representation. Cost will not be considered.
